Personal Health Risk Assessment
General Lifestyle
These are integrated online and offline health management programmes that empower individuals to assess and improve their health status through personalised reports and behavioural change programmes. At the same time they enable employers to measure and manage the health risk of their population.
Although such tools have been around for many years the development of web based technology means that they are easy to use and reports are instantaneous. Common assessment products include:
- General Health Assessment – incorporating weight, body mass, exercise and diet.
- Nutritional Assessment – reviewing composition and health of diet including evaluation of alcohol intake, fat, salt, starch, fibre etc.
- Exercise Assessment – reviewing amount and type of exercise and the approach to exercise to avoid injury.
- Stress Assessment – providing advice on how to manage work and personal stressors – this could also be adapted for the Risk Assessment for Psychological Hazards requirement by the HSE.
Specific benefits of such products and services include:
- Empowering people to understand how their lifestyle choices impact their physical health & emotional well-being
- Enabling people to measure and improve their energy, vitality and resilience
- Reducing the costs to employers, health plans and government associated with ill-health
- Improving productivity and reducing absence
- Supporting employee engagement
- Providing data, intelligence and modelling on how investment in health & well-being will impact business drivers (absence, productivity, customer satisfaction, engagement) and health drivers (self care, personal responsibility)
The programmes used by HRM run off a health and well-being portal that helps users understand how lifestyle and medical issues impact their ‘Health & Well-being’ (HWB). This portal includes:
- A general ‘Health Risk Assessment’ (HRA) that is validated against the World Health Organisation (WHO) SF 36 and EQL assessments
- 5 additional assessments focused on ‘Sleep’, ‘Emotional Resilience’, ‘Nutrition’ & ‘Physical Activity’
- Personalised HWB reports that give users a detailed andindividually tailored report on their own status and how they could improve their HWM to optimise their energy & vitality and minimise illness
- A personalisation engine that links ‘stage of change methodology’ with content and interactive modules
- Tailored behavioural change programmes targeted at users that include weight management, smoking cessation, stress management, physical activity etc.
- Aggregated data reports that help employers understand where their health risks are and how to deliver targeted health promotion programmes to mitigate those risks generally and specifically.
- We can also introduce fitness programmes to help employees become fit for purpose and to counteract any physical stressors.
In addition we can also provide individual assessments of:
- Nutrition
- Exercise
- Sleep
- Stress
These assessments follow similar principles to the General Lifestyle Assessment and provide a personalised “instant” report to help an individual understand any problem areas whilst offering guidance on how improvements may be made to optimise health and fitness. These assessments may be repeated during a programme to enable a person to monitor their progress.
