Personal Health Risk Assessment

General Lifestyle

The personal health risk assessment (PHRA)

Health risk is also dependent on personal factors such as age, gender, lifestyle and personality. A PHRA reviews personal lifestyle health risks including diet, exercise, body mass, etc, together with any pre-existing conditions that need to be taken into consideration. To arrive at a holistic and realistic assessment, a PHRA also takes into account any work-related issues.

Healthcare RM personal health risk assessments are online and offline-based health management programmes that empower individuals to assess and improve their health status through personalised reports and behavioural change programmes. At the same time they enable employers to measure and manage the health risk of their workforce.

A personal health risk assessment can include:

  • General health assessment - incorporating weight, body mass, exercise and diet
  • Nutritional assessment - reviewing composition and health of diet including evaluation of alcohol intake, fat, salt, starch, fibre, etc
  • Exercise assessment - reviewing the level and type of exercise and specific approaches to avoid injury
  • Stress assessment - providing advice on how to manage work and personal stressors - this could also be adapted for the Risk Assessment for Psychological Hazards requirement by the HSE
  • A general health risk assessment (HRA) that is validated against the World Health Organisation (WHO) SF 36 and EQL assessments
  • Five additional assessments focused on sleep, emotional resilience, nutrition and physical activity
  • Personalised health and well being (HWB) reports that give users a detailed and individually tailored report on their own status and how they could improve their lifestyle to optimise energy and vitality and minimise illness
  • A web portal with interactive content and personalised modules
  • Tailored behavioural change programmes targeted at users including weight management, smoking cessation, stress management, physical activity, etc
  • Detailed data reports that help employers understand where health risks exist and how to deliver targeted health promotion programmes to mitigate those risks

If requested, we are also able to provide individuals with a tailored health improvement programme based on the findings of their assessment, including personalised guidance on:

  • Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Sleep
  • Stress

Assessments may be repeated during a programme to enable an employee to monitor their progress.

The benefits of personal health risk assessments include:

  • Empowering people to understand how their lifestyle choices and medical issues impact upon their physical and emotional health
  • Enabling people to measure and improve their energy, vitality and resilience
  • Reducing the costs to employers, health plans and management associated with ill-health
  • Improving productivity and reducing absence
  • Supporting employee engagement
  • Providing data, intelligence and modelling on how investment in health and well-being will impact business drivers (absence, productivity, customer satisfaction, engagement, etc) and health drivers (self-care, personal responsibility, etc)
