Exciting times here at Healthcare RM over the last two months. We have moved to new purpose built offices in Miller Court Tewkesbury. Miller Court is a new development on the Tewkesbury Business Park with very good connections to both the M5 and local rail links.
Combined with the move we have been recruiting new staff both in Business Support and as Case Managers due to our increased business activities. Due to future expansions we are looking for good case managers. If you think you have the ability to be a good team player think laterally and be part of an exciting proactive team then send your CV to me Alan Gellatly and let me know of your interest.
Adam Gellatly one of our Case Managers and fitness and nutrition specialists gains valuable positions in recent cycle races he has been competing in. Adam’s passion previously was in Alpine skiing and has been a member of the British Children’s Team and the English Alpine Squad prior to changing sports to cycling.
As a new entry to the sport he started the season as a category 4 cyclist and as a result of some very good results he has now been upgraded to Category 3 and hopes by the end of the season to gain category 2 status.
Healthcare RM operate a Cycle to Work Scheme for employees and Adam is an excellent example of utilising that scheme to the full benefitting both his health and being inspirational to his colleagues.
Healthcare RM’s FROG programmes are really working for the numerous participants who have been on the programme since the launch.
The following is a very exciting FROG Case study;
FROG case study
Mr B described an approximate 10 year history of low back pain, with recurrent flare-ups which have resulted in a significant impact on his function. He has had several different treatment interventions and investigations for this problem, but unfortunately his problems have persisted. His most recent flare-up in September 2007 has resulted in a prolonged absence from his work role as a construction site manager. He was also reporting significant sleep disturbance and was taking a significant amount of analgesics and anti-inflammatories to help manage his pain. He described a boom/bust approach to activity. His Roland Morris score was 17/24 whilst Pain Disability Index score was 46/70 indicating significant pain related disability
Mr B attended a functional restoration program in Worcester in April 2008 where he underwent education sessions on pain, principles of graded activity, establishing a baseline level of function, strategies to improve sleep, managing flare-ups and maintaining change. He also took part in a graded exercise program and a structured goal setting program. He returned to his role as a construction site manager at the beginning of May on a phased return to work plan.
A two month follow up review was conducted with Mr B on 3rd June. He has now returned to his fully assigned work role. He reports a significant improvement in his sleep patterns and has also reduced his use of pain medication. He is using principles of graded activity and pacing to help manage his back pain and reports that this is allowing him to function consistently on a day to day basis. His follow up indicated a significant clinical improvement in pain related disability.
Mr B cannot place a cost saving on better health with a much better standard of living for him and his family.
