Healthcare RM have now settled into their new offices in the Tewkesbury Business Park, having moved away from Tewkesbury High Street. This move has added to efficiency because all the staff are now on two floors in a more suitable office environment. Since the move, Healthcare RM have continued to grow from strength to strength, developing their skills and expertise in managing all aspects of employee health, from pre employment to retirement. In these difficult times it is even more important for employers to be aware of the sickness, absence and health of their employees and that is where Healthcare RM can give a good return on investment. Professor Liam Donaldson, Chief Medical Officer has stated publicly that the cost of ill health relating to obesity, lack of fitness, sickness and absence, costs the industry somewhere in the region of £5 billion per annum. It is therefore even more important that the services offered by Healthcare RM are utilized fully, to assist companies to reduce this horrendous cost.
Healthcare RM are entering a 10 person mixed team into the London to Paris Cycle ride in July 2009. This ride takes place over 4 days, ending in the Champs Elysees in Paris, the day before the final run of the Tour de France. This is a charity event where Healthcare RM are endeavoring to raise £10,000 for Action Medical Research in relation to the Touching Tiny Lives Campaign, www.action.org.uk.
Touching Tiny Lives is the Action Medical Research appeal to raise funds for vital medical research to reduce pregnancy complications, premature birth, and give more babies a better start in life. Each year in the UK 70,000 newborn babies need special care. Sadly, 50,000 babies are born prematurely. Tragically, more than 25 premature babies die every week because they were born too soon. Only medical research can give us a real understanding of the causes and conditions that put mothers and babies at risk, and enable doctors to find new treatments. With the help of Action Medical Research funding leading doctors and scientists are working hard to find better ways to diagnose women at risk of pregnancy complications, to understand why premature birth occurs and find ways to prevent it, as well as looking for new treatments to help sick babies.

The following is a very exciting FROG Case study;
FROG case study
Mr B described an approximate 10 year history of low back pain, with recurrent flare-ups which have resulted in a significant impact on his function. He has had several different treatment interventions and investigations for this problem, but unfortunately his problems have persisted. His most recent flare-up in September 2007 has resulted in a prolonged absence from his work role as a construction site manager. He was also reporting significant sleep disturbance and was taking a significant amount of analgesics and anti-inflammatories to help manage his pain. He described a boom/bust approach to activity. His Roland Morris score was 17/24 whilst Pain Disability Index score was 46/70 indicating significant pain related disability
Mr B attended a functional restoration program in Worcester in April 2008 where he underwent education sessions on pain, principles of graded activity, establishing a baseline level of function, strategies to improve sleep, managing flare-ups and maintaining change. He also took part in a graded exercise program and a structured goal setting program. He returned to his role as a construction site manager at the beginning of May on a phased return to work plan.
A two month follow up review was conducted with Mr B on 3rd June. He has now returned to his fully assigned work role. He reports a significant improvement in his sleep patterns and has also reduced his use of pain medication. He is using principles of graded activity and pacing to help manage his back pain and reports that this is allowing him to function consistently on a day to day basis. His follow up indicated a significant clinical improvement in pain related disability.
Mr B cannot place a cost saving on better health with a much better standard of living for him and his family.
